Behind The Light Room

Neina Ortonish1 Behind The Light RoomWho are you joining in The Light Room?

Hey! icon smile Behind The Light Room I’m Neina Sheldon (known to my friends as Neens).  I set up The Light Room blog in February 2012, as I wanted to provide some support to fellow sufferers of Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD) and Winter Blues / Winter Depression.

Many evenings that January, I chatted with people on the Lumie Forum; I’m a complete chatterbox and I really enjoyed swapping tips and catching up on each others’ days.  From this, and after some research, I decided to set up The Light Room.  I’m very grateful to my friend Emma, who writes a wonderful blog herself, for her help and encouragement.  Also to my Dad, for previous e-boot camps, which meant I had some idea how to go about setting up a blog!

I’m not an “expert” on SAD and Winter Blues – I’m not in a medical profession or an academic researcher.  But I have been successfully managing my symptoms since I was diagnosed with SAD in 2003.  Any advice I might give is based on my own personal experience.  It needs to be weighed up with what you know about yourself and your own experience of SAD or Winter Blues.

I would always recommend going to see your GP if you are experiencing symptoms of SAD or Winter Blues to get a proper diagnosis.  They’ll be able to assess whether you have one of these conditions, or whether your symptoms are a result of something else.

Besides enjoying writing this blog, I work as a Marketing Executive, which I love! icon smile Behind The Light Room   I relax by curling up with a good book, cooking, eating out, walking, catching up with friends over a cuppa and cake… I also love taking photos, crafting, a good night out with friends, the theatre and cinema.

I really hope you’ll find what you’re looking for in The Light Room.  Whether that’s information, support, advice or just a friendly place to come when you’re feeling a bit ’bleurgh’ – I hope it helps! icon smile Behind The Light Room   To find out more about the blog itself, please visit About The Light Room.
